Today I am honoured to share an interview with successful romantic suspense author, Lynda Stacey who writes for Choc Lit. The House of Christmas Secrets is her third book, and it’s a cracker!
Here’s what Lynda had to say:-
Well, here it is. The book I always said I’d never write. For some reason I was
very nervous about writing it. I really wanted to do the story justice because
over the years I’ve watched far too many film sequels that were never as good
as the original film and for me, this made writing the sequel to House of
Secrets quite a challenge. I only wanted it to exist if it were as good as House
of Secrets, if I could bring the hall and its characters back to life, and to give
them a whole new story and plot, which again was just a little more than
difficult when I felt as though I’d tied up up all the loose ends.
My novel starts one year on from where House of Secrets ended. All of the
original cast are within the book, once again we get to meet Madeleine,
Bandit, Nomsa and Poppy, but this story follows Jess, Madeleine’s sister and
we begin where she’s wishing that this year they all have a nice, normal
However, anyone who’s read any of my books will know that nice and normal
are never part of my plot…which leaves the question… what will happen and
will Jess get the Christmas and wedding she wishes for?
Lynda is not wrong, she does like to put her characters through the wringer, and I knew that this one wouldn’t be any different. We all fell in love with Bandit, and rooted for the sisters to find love and happiness, and ultimately peace. This book starts a year on, and Lynda’s easy flow of writing style quickly got me hooked right back into the plot. I won’t give away any spoilers, but as sequels go, it’s amazing – and another big hit for this pull no punches author. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next! 5 stars from me.
